Firstly thanks to Evan Mchugh and Michelle for running another great Regatta for LKSC again this year, the event is not possible without their support.
Results for the 55 th Keepit Kool Regatta held over the June Long Weekend
A five race series in variable conditions, from nil wind to a good sailing
breeze, was held over the June Long Weekend at Lake Keepit Sailing Club.
There were 65 entrants, many from the Lake Macquarie area but some as
far afield as Wagga Wagga and the Tweed River.
The Regattas Overall Winner was Simone Coop from Armidale (New
England Sailing Club) who sailed a very consistent five race series in her
Marie-4.3 “Nurse Humour” catamaran.
We were privileged to have several competitors who have competed at
World Championships and in the recent Olympic trials, two notables were
Andrew Landenberger and Craig Phillips.
Local sailor Hugh Evans, scored a 4 th overall in the Dinghy Division of 27
competitors. An excellent effort!
Our guest Race Officer was Evan McHugh from Toronto Motor-Yacht Club
with his wife Michelle assisting. We thank him, and his team, for coming
here and running an excellent three-day series of competitive races on our
Lake Keepit.
Our Lake Keepit Members are to be congratulated for their assistance with
run this unique sailing event. Most fore-went sailing themselves to crew
the safety boats, the starting boat, to supply the meals, prepare the
grounds, lay the race buoys and the many tasks that make this rural-sailing
event so popular an event on the sailing calendar!
